'1991, The Year Punk Broke' To Be Issued On DVD

Until now the only way to witness Dave Markey’s classic rock doc 1991, The Year Punk Broke, was through old VHS copies and low quality online rips (see above). Now comes the welcome news that the film is to get a full DVD release on Sept. 9, complete with a generous amount of bonus footage. The film follows Sonic Youth on a European festival tour, and features plenty of additional appearances from the band’s soon-to-be-famous buddies Nirvana. Dinosaur Jr., the Ramones, Babes in Toyland, and many others also feature. This page has more details on the release, including information about the 40-minute long bonus feature titied (This Is Known As) The Blues Scale.
