10-Year-Old Lawsuit Against Dr. Dre Resurfaces
Here's one of the longer-developing lawsuit against a musician stories you'll read this week: A nearly 11-year-old lawsuit against Dr. Dre resurfaced in Michigan Appeals Court earlier this month, as three Detroit city officials sued Dr. Dre in 2000, claiming that they appeared in the documentary of the Up in Smoke tour without their consent. Apparently, the officials had to tell Dre and Snoop Dogg that a video they were going to show was lewd, and the conversation was recorded. The officials sued for a totally reasonable $3 billion, saying that that was a private conversation. A judge disagreed, but the officials are still pushing, and may get a jury trial. Wouldn't that make for high comedy: Snoop and Dre (and maybe Xzibit) having to testify about the implications of private and public speech. [DetNews]
