Remember 2001? Organizers of the Isle of Wight Festival surely do. The festival, to be held June 11-13 off the southern coast of England, will feature two of that year’s heaviest hitters in Jay-Z, whose iconic album The Blueprint dropped that year, and the Strokes, whose highly anticipated debut album, Is This It?, also saw its release. It's exciting to see The Strokes name up there, as Julian Casablancas and company haven't played live since 2006.
Jigga will close out the first night of the festival on Friday, while The Strokes will take the final slot on Saturday. Other announced acts include Saturday’s special guest Blondie and Sunday’s special guest Pink. The Big Top at Isle of Wight will see sets from Orbital and Squeeze.
A one-two punch like that looks fantastic, until the realization hits that Jay-Z will probably be filling his set with Blueprint III tracks and The Strokes might unfortunately play "Juicebox." [Spinner]
Ahh, nice. Can't wait until the Strokes tour the U.S. again.
