Zola Jesus: "Poor Animal"
Less than a week before the release of her new Zola Jesus EP Valusia, Nika Roza Danilova has leaked "Poor Animal," the release's opening track. The song sticks to a mostly electronic route, with a beat that builds consistently as the track marches on. Meanwhile, Danilova is in top vocal form, powerfully emoting over beds of bright synths and string samples. Even if the rest of Valusia ends up being low-key burners, at least we now know that it starts with an absolute explosion. Listen below.
