“Your Past Life As A Blast” (Video)

Most of the time, “found footage” music videos feature assorted video clips from the ’70s and ’80s that have little to nothing to do with the actual music. Sure, there might be some kind of underlying connection, such as tropical footage being used to display that, yes, the song in question is made for lounging on the beach.

But in the case of Okkervil River’s “Your Past Life as a Blast,” the clips you see are both authentic and very much connected to the song itself. The footage stems from home movies shot by frontman Will Sheff’s father. And Sheff apparently put the video together with some help from editor Alan Del Rio Ortiz. If you’re feeling nostalgic (or you just like the band’s excellent I Am Very Far), this is for you.
