Young Widows' new album In And Out Of Youth And Lightness is a harrowingly emotional document from a band more well known for bringing blunt force to audiences around the world. It's also the album that finds the Louisville trio opening their sound further than it's been before, as evidenced by pseudo-title track "In And Out Of Lightness." Clocking in at over six minutes, the song weaves in and out of several tension-wracked sections, until Evan Patterson's guitar eventually sounds like it's ripping itself apart from the inside out. It's a great new look for the noise-rockers, as they find themselves moving in more post-punk and bluesy directions than their past material.
In And Out Of Youth And Lightness is due out April 12 via Temporary Residence.
