San Francisco-based group Young Prisms traffick in a pretty en vogue indie substrain of indie. There are touches of '80s synth pop, '90s shoegaze, and 2000s lo-fi movement. You've probably heard a bunch of that stuff recently, but thankfully "Four Hours (Away)" from the band's forthcoming Kanine Records release In Between is pleasant enough to make those obvious influences irrelevant. With its smoke-obscured waltz and John Hughes lead guitar, this is definitely music that should close idiosyncratic high school prom romantic comedies. The new Young Prisms LP drops Mar. 27.
