The video for Young Jeezy's "My President Is Black" was set to premiere on MTV on Monday, which makes sense considering Obama's inauguration is on Tuesday (January 20, 2009). However, the internet wins again as the video has already leaked.
Politics are probably not the first thing that comes to anyone's mind when they think Jeezy, but this song is one of the best tracks off The Recession despite the awkward hook, "My president is black, my Lambo is blue."
Here's what Jeezy had to say about the video in an interview with MTV.
"I did [the video] with the 'Fight the Power' concept because I remember, back in the day, Flavor Flav and Chuck D marching down the street."
"They had the old people, the young people, store owners, they had picket signs, everything. It was a sense of black pride, a sense of pride, period."
The video also features Nas, Bow Wow, Bun B, DJ Greg Street and Roccett. If nothing else, the video is worth watching to see Nas flex when he drops the line "Twenty-two inch rims like Hulk Hogan's arms."
The Recession was released on September 2, 2008, by Def Jam/Corporate Thugz Entertainment.
