While it might be true that Young Galaxy's self-titled effort, which dropped in 2007, was a middling affair, there were a few highlights thanks to the band's knack for drone-y pop. Sure, the rock-driven affairs were dull at times and yeah, some of the messages within the lyrics might be cliche. But this Montreal-based act appears to still be finding its legs, as was also heard on its sophomore album, 2009's Invisible Republic. The quintet's latest single, "Cover Your Tracks" off the forthcoming Shapeshifting, isn't necessarily in the realm of drone, but it's certainly a slower-paced cut. And it bounces ever so slightly with a vibe very reminiscent of jj, making for a melodic, soothing listen.
You can stream "Cover Your Tracks" at the link below. Shapeshifting is out in early 2011.

I'd hope you guys would know/acknowledge that there was a second YG cd out a few years back called "Invisible Republic". Not as good as the first...but still.
