As sweet as “You and I” sounds on Wilco (the album), this clip from Letterman makes it feel downright adorable. Tweedy and Feist coo along together through the unassuming track, but can’t help mugging and grinning at each other a little, and even end up pulling the classic sing-close-together-for-the-bridge move. The two certainly seem to have a blast performing together, and the rest of the Wilco fellas are happy to step back and let them have the spotlight. Could Tweedy and Feist turn into the next George and Tammy? You know, without the doomed marriage? Here’s hoping.
Wilco (the album) is out now on Nonesuch.
