Last month, the Black Hippy crew initiated #TDEappreciationweek, which saw the arrival of free tracks like “Party” by ScHoolboy Q, the JMSN-produced “Nibiru” by Ab-Soul and “Westside, Right On Time” from Kendrick Lamar and Young Jeezy. Jay Rock‘s offering was “YOLA,” which has been projected to the digital screen. The Watts native often unfairly gets tagged as the token “thug” of Black Hippy, but he proves his aptness for poignancy here, as the clip portrays the metaphor of his music being audio crack well.
Jay Rock is said to be working on the follow-up to last year’s Follow Me Home LP, although it’s unclear whether “YOLA” will be featured. Watch the visuals below.
