When did Yacht become a remix master? He went from being the cool indie rock guy who produced records for the Blow, toured with Vampire Weekend, and made scattershot records on his own (like this one) to making great remixes of Stereolab and Ratatat.
His Stereolab remix (of “Self-Portrait with Electric Brain” off the band’s upcoming album, Chemical Chords) turns the song into ‘80s-style club thumper, and his remix of Ratatat’s “Mirando” (from LP3) makes the original a much heavier song, and adds some hip-hop vocals.
Tomorrow, Yacht is hosting the Catch that Beat festival in Astoria, Oregon, and will reportedly be heading out on a UK tour at the end of the month. [Fader]
