Women: Live at Cake Shop (Video)

· by

On stage at Cake Shop in New York, Women look just as crowded as they sound. But the band stays completely in control throughout this great set. They hold down the reigns on their chaotic sound during "Untitled," as they put their heads down and drive through the song. The fuzzy surge of "Lawncare" never overwhelms the vocals, and on "Shaking Hands" the rhythm section absolutely steals the show from the intricate guitar work. And even in the most disjointed, noodling moments of the 25-minute set, the performance never becomes insular. Women may not be much for mugging on stage, but their sound has all the stage presence they need. [Pitchfork]

Sounds great. I haven't seen Women yet, but I look forward to it.
