The new Women album Public Strain is already one of the most anticipated releases of the year for anyone looking to gorge on another set of angular rock in the vein of their eponymous debut. The Canadian band is teasing us with a track from the album, which is due out on Jagjaguwar on Sept. 28, titled “Eyesore.”
This song builds on the sound the group concocted on that debut record—sharp, detuned guitar lines matched with oblique vocals and acres of space to stretch out in—and makes the prospect of Public Strain ever more mouthwatering. Women are proof that, despite its advancing years, rock music is still capable of offering us a few surprises.
