In the interview announcing the imminent arrival of their third album, Expo 86, Dan Boeckner said the record would have a more pronounced '80s influence. Given this video of the band performing a new song, titled "Fast Ballad," in Toronto, dude wasn't joking. This moves faster than the total of At Mount Zoomer, and has the synth workouts that made Apologies to the Queen Mary such a great album. There's still plenty of prog-rock jams, so fans of Zoomer aren't left out either. Good stuff, which bodes well for the rest of Expo 86, which is due out this summer. [P4K]
