Call It a Ritual (MP3)

Average Rating: 8.20
Apparently, Wolf Parade were just pulling our leg with that whole “our new album is called Kissing the Beehive” thing, as the album title is back to being TBD.

Different title or not, the band have marched out of the woods with their pack and unleashed a new track from that forthcoming album, titled “Call it a Ritual.”

The song saunters its way around its three minutes, with Spencer Krug taking the lead vocals. It’s got the kind of shuffle that the band made work on their last album, especially on “I Am a Runner.” But overall it is much more subdued than the band’s past work, with piano taking the lead for much of the track, until a climbing guitar line kicks in.

Will this song be the standard for Wolf Parade’s new album? We’ll know on June 17, when the album actually hits the shelves.

Looking forward to this album. Weird having the piano being the focus of the track, but it works.

Not really that weird considering the last album was pretty synth heavy. I'm sure the track will fit in great with whatever other tracks come before and after it. Not the best Wolf Parade song, but promising.
