“Winter’s Year”

Former Ghosts keep up their whole goth pop thing with “Winter’s Year,” the latest track from their upcoming album New Love. The vocals are all doused in reverb, and the song sounds pretty grim for the most part, except for a sparkly chorus driven by a simple synth part. It’s the kind of depressing track that still somehow manages to work on the dancefloor. Listen to it over at Stereogum.

New Love marks the second collaboration of Freddy Ruppert, Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart, and Zola Jesus’ Nika Roza Danilova under the Former Ghosts banner. It also marks the first appearance of collaborator Yasmine Kittles. It’s set to drop on Nov. 9 via Upset The Rhythm.
