Will Ferrell: "Freebird" f. Beck and Ben Harper (Live on Conan) (Video)

Neil Young provided a melancholy send-off to Conan O’Brien during his final show as host of the Tonight Show on Friday (Jan. 22). But there was also a gathering of stars to add a dash of musical humor to the proceedings, with Will Ferrell calling on Beck, Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, Ben Harper and even O’Brien himself for this reworking of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Freebird.”

O’Brien thrums away on guitar while Ferrell croons, and Beck, Gibbons and Harper anonymously do their thing. The talk show host leaves the solo to Gibbons, and then Farrell proves that memes never really die by thwacking away at (you guessed it) a cowbell to bring the song to a raucous finale.
