For a band called Wild Beasts, these English fellas aren’t really all that beastly; their music sounds like a post-punk band fronted by Antony from Antony & the Johnson’s (at least when bassist Tom Fleming is the one singing).
The video for “The Devil’s Crayon” (from the band’s debut album Limbo Panto, out today in the U.K.) features the band playing in an empty black space augmented by some tarot-inspired animation. As for the track, it’s pretty great; it’s a understated ballad with a whole lot of reverb-heavy guitar riffs and clanging percussion. [Pitchfork]
