Jeff Tweedy stopped by The COlber Report last night, ostensibly to promote Wilco, but mostly to talk up his boy, Barack Obama. After a quickie interview where Colbert does his best to coax some energy out of Tweedy (“I’ll try to match your energy. I think my heart just stopped.”), Wilco played “Wilco the Song” (like Joe the Plumber). “Wilco” is a decently rocking boogie-woogie song, and it’s about the economic problems and Wilco, and has a Stephen Colbert reference. Tweedy really knows how to kiss ass, doesn’t he? [Stereogum]
This is the feel good song of the year. I don't think it's narcissistic at all. But then again, I can see the irony.. if you need Wilco to love you, things must really be in a bad way...

you people have missed the point, and humor all together.
Self-indulgence and narcissism? Or deliberately self-mocking? Probably a combination of the two.
