If you saw the list of performers at Lollapalooza over the weekend weekend, you wouldn't have expected Wilco to steal the show. Yet, Jeff Tweedy & co. were all anyone was talking about after the fest ended, as the beloved alt-country band performed their first new song since 2007's Sky Blue Sky. "One Wing," as you can probably tell, is a work in progress, but there's a lot of potential for an interesting song to come out of it.
The song's a builder, as it begins sounding more like the band's 90's material until it progresses into a hard rock conclusion. It's certainly reminiscent of Crazy Horse-era Neil Young, which is notable for a band that has usually stuck to Young's softer side as its main influence. No new album has been announced, but now that we've got word of new material, will an announcement be on the horizon?

not to be snotty about this, but jeff and jay both explored the crazy horse side of neil young in uncle tupelo. jay more than jeff, but the long cut on anodyne has crazy horse written all over it. this song has both that neil young cortez the killer, etc. vibe to it and that almost jazzy vibe of jesus, etc. then it just goes somewhere else entirely different thanks to nils cline. a keeper for sure.
