Why?: "This Blackest Purse" (MP3)

It's hard to believe this track could come from a band that was ever described as "hip-hop," even if they straddled the boundary between that genre and indie rock. But Why? bandleader Yoni Wolf forecasted as much, calling his upcoming album Eskimo Snow "the least hip-hop out of anything I've ever been involved with." Piano competes with Wolf's vocals for your attention on "This Blackest Purse," a song that sounds like it should be performed by people who wear sweaters during their entire performance. Not very hip-hop, but very pleasant.
