“Bigger Than Us” was a minor hit for White Lies in their native UK, so it makes sense that they’re using the song to hawk their latest album, Ritual, on these shores. The band mines a strangely dated sound—this is essentially a return to last decade’s fascination with Joy Division, as told by Interpol, Editors, etc. Anyone not tired of that sound, and clearly there are a few judging by the White Lies’ burgeoning popularity, will find a sleek yet passionless take on that particular facet of the post punk movement here.
