“Whirring” (Live On Letterman) (Video)

Welsh trio the Joy Formidable turned up on David Letterman’s show last night to play a version of “Whirring” from The Big Roar. It’s been a quick leap into the spotlight for the group since the release of that album in January of this year, although there was around three years or so of touring and single releases that preceded it. It’s not hard to see why the band is such an attractive live draw—this is youthful, energetic indie rock full of buzzy guitar lines and a knack for wrapping decent pop melodies up in a loud-quiet-loud dynamic. It’s just too bad Letterman’s cue-card guy couldn’t spell “Wales” correctly in the intro, which I’m sure hasn’t gone down too well in the Joy Formidable’s home country. [via The Audio Perv]
