“Where I’m Going” (Cut Copy Cover)

When Lockett Pundt isn’t playing in Deerhunter, he’s making washed-out tunes under the alias of Lotus Plaza. And for his latest solo cut, he’s taken on Cut Copy’s “Where I’m Going” as part of a limited-edition vinyl release. The other side of the record features Architecture in Helsinki’s own version of the Australian band’s “Need You Now,” which is also off this year’s Zonoscope.

While we haven’t heard that track yet, we have become engrossed in Lotus Plaza’s cover of “Where I’m Going.” It starts as a somewhat straightforward rework filled with noise and guitars. But then everything drops out and the track builds itself back up into nearly five minutes worth of droning beauty. You can listen to the cover on the Modular Facebook page.
