Wetdog: "Lower Leg" (Video)

Female-trio Wetdog join the ranks of Vivian Girls and Dum Dum Girls carrying on a tradition that began with bands like Bikini Kill and Sleater-Kinney in the ‘90s. Whether the U.K. ladies would appreciate the Riot Grrrl tag is unknown, but they recently toured with The Slits so we’re in the right ballpark. Certainly they share a similar esthetic: buzz-saw guitars, surf bass-lines, and shouty vocals reminiscent of Thowing Muses’ Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donelly give Wetdog the same underground feminist punk vibe. On the video for “Lower Leg” we’re treated with a bird’s eye view of the gals, uhm, lower legs flittering about in a swimming pool. The band’s sophomore effort, Frauhaus!, is coming out on Angular records at the end of November. For additional Wetdog tunes you can check out “Tidy Up Your Bedroom” currently streaming at Pitchfork or the band’s MySpace site.
