Wet Wings: "Running Like A Man" / "Whisper Always"
The New Zealand duo of Darian and Lucy -- no last names here -- go by the moniker Wet Wings. The group has a couple of tracks they just made available on their Bandcamp page, titled "Running Like a Man" and "Whisper Always." The former is a folksy, pastoral waltz that shifts effortlessly between soft vocals, Renaissance plinks and digital noise while maintaining an elegant, haunting backbone. By throwing all those disparate ideas together over its focused core, it's even more emotionally affecting. The equally beautiful "Whisper Always" floats by in a rustic haze, spiraling around the central vocal figures, the lack of resolution somehow creating something touching.
