“Werewolf” is the second song we’ve heard from Fiona Apple’s The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driving of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do, which is set for release June 19 on Clean Slate/Epic. Just like the album’s first single, “Every Single Night,” it’s backed by humble piano that complements her complex verbosity. She describes a complicated relationship and its self-destructive tendencies, all building up to a clip of children yelling. It sounds like Idler Wheel might just live up to our impossible expectations after all. Take a listen below:
