Weezer: "Un-break My Heart" (Toni Braxton Cover)

Here we have Weezer's take on Toni Braxton's 1996 R&B megahit "Un-break My Heart," which appears on the band's upcoming unreleased songs collection Death To False Metal. It's not played for laughs whatsoever, as a thick layer of plodding piano is laid over the band's trademark guitar crunch. Rivers Cuomo even nails all of Braxton's vocal changes in the final chorus. In an interview with American Songwriter magazine, Cuomo revealed that the cover was recorded at the suggestion of Rick Rubin and that it was in consideration to appear on Make Believe, but didn't make the cut. So, let's get this straight: this wasn't good enough for Make Believe, but a song that basically follows the melody to "The Diarrhea Song" was. Alright then. Give the Braxton cover a listen below.
