Weekend

"Youth Haunts" (MP3)

This interesting, blistering bit of cathartic noise-rock comes courtesy of the group Weekend. The San Francisco quartet blaze through a song equal parts Isn't Anything and Interpol, ratcheting up the tension with each passing second. Just short of four and a half minutes, the song finally careens out of control, with rampaging snare hits and walls of feedback. This kind of sounds like being trapped in a tin can with a wolverine. Yeah, gots that A Place to Bury Strangers sound. Melikes. Hey, Chris, can you get me Scott Plagenhoef's autograph? (Seriously.) BTW, you got mad skills too. The "wolverine" bit, nice.
