Pitchfork founder Ryan Schreiber was enthusing about lo-fi tunesmith Nathan Daniel William (a.k.a. Wavves) on this bizarre addition to ABC News yesterday. So what do Wavves actually sound like? “So Bored” is taken from William’s upcoming album, titled Wavvves, and is clearly influenced by the Jesus and Mary Chain, Times New Viking, Ariel Pink, No Age and the Ramones. It bodes well for the record, which is fast becoming a hotly anticipated item.
The Wavvves album was recorded onto 4-track tape in William’s bedroom in San Diego. He also blogs at Ghost Ramp, where he talks about his love of hip-hop stars such as the Geto Boys, Jeru the Damaja and Raekwon. William is taking Wavves on the road in January and February, and is playing SXSW in March. Full tour dates listed below.
