The Fader’s excellent series of limited edition 7-inch singles continues with a split release between Wavves and Windsurf. The single is available for the price of an e-mail address at the Fader website, but act fast because only 500 copies have been printed up.
Nathan Williams of Wavves has been ubiquitous throughout the first quarter of 2009, playing up a storm and releasing the great Wavvves album. San Francisco band Windsurf describe themselves as "nu-balearic-cosmic-disco-slow-mo-awesome-house,” and have an album, titled Coastline, currently available.
Wavves’ “Friends Were Gone” contains typically fuzzed up Mary Chain/Beach Boys-esque leanings, and demonstrates Williams’ uncanny ear for a great pop tune. Vinyl-phobes can also listen to the Windsurf track over at the Fader website.
