Warpaint are currently in the U.K. promoting their album from last year, The Fool, and they appeared on Later with Jools Holland to play a couple of tracks last week. The Los Angeles quartet performed “Undertow” from that record, which shows off their way around slightly discordant harmonies that occasionally sound like they’re going to topple over into Raincoats-style dissonance, but mostly stray closer to sweetly melodic ground. They also performed the non-album track “Elephants,” which is strung around a similar structure to “Undertow,” where the downcast beginning slowly finds a new life in more upbeat riffing.
