When it was revealed that Wale's sophomore album, Ambition, would sell around 200,000 copies in its first week -- he actually moved about 164,000 -- I joked that the D.C. rapper should make sure to thank his boss (err, bawse) Rick Ross. But in reality, Wale should also be thanking R&B crooner/producer Miguel, whose smooth hook is a huge reason Ambition's "Lotus Flower Bomb" is such a hit.
Yes, the beat is silky and sure, Wale's verses are slick, but Miguel really ties the whole thing together. With that in mind, it's good to see he could make it out for Wale's performance of the track on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night. He's also joined by a live band for the gig and the players succeed in bringing the buttery instrumental to life. And it makes for one of the better performances we've seen from Wale, who's proving he can tone down his energy and still kill it. Watch it below. [CoS]
