We’re just one day away from the release of The-Dream’s free album, 1977, which he’s releasing under his government name, Terius Nash. As such, it stands as a debut of sorts, though the leaks thus far have obviously been steeped in what we’ve come to expect from the sexed-up, grandiose-leaning singer. They have also been really good, particularly the latest, “Wake Me When It’s Over.” It’s reminiscent of the stuff you would have expected him to write for Drake circa So Far Gone, if, you know The-Dream wrote for Drizzy. It’s got that muddy, 808s-heavy percussion, always-tender vocals, and some great quotables like “I love the way you smell, but you always on some bullshit.”
