Amoeba has an excellent selection of interview and performance clips available on its website, and has just added a set from those cheery Brooklyn ladies in Vivian Girls. The band performed in the store back in September 2009, during the lengthy bouts of touring to promote Everything Goes Wrong.
Here, they talk about how the band formed over breakfast, and how they feel about their place in the continuum of all-girl punk-pop bands that have emerged over the years. The highlight of the set is a version of “When I’m Gone,” which is driven by galloping drums, metallic shards of discordant guitar and pitch-perfect harmonies.
Nice space.
