Vivian Girls came out with two more songs from from their upcoming album Everything Goes Wrong, and so far they're successfully straddling the line between striving too hard for reinvention and turning out another collection of the same old stuff. These tunes are still plenty noisy and scuffy, but the low-key passages don't just provide a break, they offer melodies and artful bridges and the vocal range is stretched to pleasant results.
The two songs are now streaming on their MySpace page. Everything Goes Wrong comes out September 8 on In the Red.

How can they be "striving too hard for reinvention" AND "turning out another collection of the same old stuff". Why can't you just say that they "made a new album".
