Vampire Weekend: The Kids Don’t Stand A Chance ft. Chromeo (Live at mtvU Woodies) (Video)

At the mtvU Woodies, Vampre Weekend were joined onstage by Chromeo to do Vampire Weekend’s latest single, “The Kids Don’t Stand A Chance,” and I have to say, I was kind of disappointed with this video proof. I had hoped that the song would be taken on off some weird ‘80s R&B tangent, but instead, the Chromeo guys just use their vocoders to sing a verse and harmonize on the original version.

That onstage collaboration wasn’t enough for the Chromeo-VW partnership, as Chromeo have remixed the track as the b-side to “Kids”’s upcoming single release. The remix is more like I had thought they’d do the song live—dance rhythms, syncopated vocals, and pulsing guitars. You can hear the remix here. [Stereogum
