Vampire Weekend made it short and snappy on Jimmy Fallon’s show on Friday (March 12) with a performance of “Holiday” that clocked in at under three minutes. Late night TV shows are likely to be the smallest venues the band plays from this moment on (aside from the odd house party) as Contra has reached the No. 1 slot in the U.S., Canada and the U.K.
“Holiday” is pulled into shape by the now-familiar stop-start rhythms the band specializes in, which are coated by scratchy guitar patterns and stuttering drums. It’s the type of pleasant but forgettable indie rock Vampire Weekend has traded in since they began, and that formula isn’t likely to change any time soon.
