Fresh off performing with Conan O'Brien and Stephen Colbert at Conan O'Brien's show in New York this week, Vampire Weekend dropped by the Colbert Report last night for an interview and to perform current single "Holiday." In the interview below, Ezra Koenig and Colbert debate the necessity of the Oxford Comma, and they discuss vampires. Above the band performs "Holiday," and there is only slightly less awkwardness than debating someone about punctuation on national TV.

Personally I'm pro-oxford comma.. Maybe that's why I dislike VW so much...

h0gy

I know people who were in the Facebook group "Society for the Preservation of the Oxford Comma" and hate the band, unaware that the song was inspired by that very Facebook group. I think the point of that song is "take away the word 'grammar' from 'grammar nazi' and..." For Upper West Siders and linguistics majors, this kinda thing is well known (see: John Simon).
