I can really only speak for my environment (which is an urban center of 240,000 people), but I really feel like Usher's "OMG" is this summer's indisputable jam. I hear Drake a fair amount, but if I got paid a dime for every time I heard Usher's "OMG" this summer, I'd have like a thousand dimes, or something. I can't drive anywhere without hearing it on 14 radio stations, and just yesterday, I had to pray that my downstairs neighbor would not repeat it for the fourth time on their impossibly loud stereo. I'd go say something, but it's too damn hot out to leave my air conditioned apartment. My prayers were not answered. God is dead.
I write this because Usher was on So You Think You Can Dance last night, which is a show where summer jams are tested. I mean, only 13-year-old girls watch that show, and they are the ones calling and requesting the song on the radio literally 45 seconds after it was last on. Usher apparently thinks he can dance though, since he honestly does that more often and better than the so-called singing that goes on here. Also many lolz go out to people being more excited for a Justin Bieber video. But still, summer jam right here. For better or for worse. Definitely worse.
