“Universe Traveler” F. Talib Kweli

When we heard from Harlem, N.Y.’s Kyle Rapps this past March, he was preparing the release of his Re-Edutainment EP that was inspired by Boogie Down Productions’ classic 1990 album, Edutainment. A pretty lofty concept indeed, but it wasn’t one that Rapps couldn’t handle and he even got BDP’s KRS-One to stop by for a verse. And now it looks like Rapps is getting even more conceptual with his upcoming mixtape, On Air. It features the down-to-Earth MC spitting over samples of down-tempo stalwarts Air. Anyone wondering if this will work and actually sound good just needs to hear “Universe Traveler.” It’s not mind-blowing or ground-breaking, but it’s damn good and features a slick opening verse from Talib Kweli.

You can stream the track here. The mixtape is due out soon.
