It’s been three years since Eric Bachmann’s Crooked Fingers released new tunes. (For those that are keeping track of such things, that release was 2008’s disappointing Forfeit/Fortune.) The Athens, Ga. musician has been busy as of late. Bachmann reunited with indie rock mavens Archers of Loaf and committed to tape Crooked Fingers’ sixth LP, Breaks in the Armor, which is slated to street Oct. 11 via Merge.

Also, Bachmann will tour North America this fall. See all those tour dates over here. In the meantime, stream the charging yet poignant album opener, “Typhoon.” It’s a moody step back into the indie world after flirting with milquetoast alternative rock a few years back.

Fans that pre-order Breaks in the Armor through the Merge store will receive acoustic demo versions of all 11 album tracks on release day.
