The debut album from Irish indie rockers Two Door Cinema Club is in stores now, and the North American promotional duties have begun in earnest. Last night (May 3) the band brought the infectious pop of “I Can Talk” to Jimmy Kimmel’s show as part of their charm offensive on this side of the Atlantic.
There’s certainly a sizable debt owed to Franz Ferdinand from the band, both in looks and sound, but with Tonight: Franz Ferdinand garnering a lukewarm response at best, these young whippersnappers are biting hard at Alex Kapranos’s heels. There may not be anything new to see or hear here, but “I Can Talk” is exactly the kind of addictive pop concoction that’s only going to win over countless fans this year.
