TV on the Radio quickly followed up its appearance on Saturday Night Live with a slot on the Colbert Report last night (Feb. 9). The piece begins with an amusing tête-à-tête with Colbert, who says: “I like the idea of trying to talk directly to a concept” in reference to the title of Dear Science. A tender moment occurs when Colbert asks if he can stroke Kyp Malone’s fulsome beard, and the singer/guitarist duly obliges.
The band also plays “Dancing Choose,” which sounds much brighter than the SNL performance. Clearly the sound at the Colbert Report trumps that of their older rivals in the comedy show pantheon. Colbert also has a good line in fake indie rock names. I’d certainly check out records by Relevant Elephant and Bunker Sorbet. [via You Ain't No Picasso]
