British electronic musician Ben Jacobs, better known as Max Tundra, has leaped back in time to Tune-Yards’ 2009 record Bird-Brains to remix the track “Real Live Flesh.” This is a frantic overhaul, full of glitchy sounds and a rubbery bass synth that sounds like it’s about to devour the song whole. You can hear Merrill Garbus’ contributions straining to get through the mêlée as Tundra drops several tons of lunacy on the song, just as anyone who is familiar with his excellent work would expect. Things get particularly unhinged and Squarepusher-like as the track enters its final third, making this a worthy meeting of minds from two distinctive talents. Check it out below.
