Yours Truly always produced some of the best live clips on the Internet, and this shoot with Tune-Yards in Oakland was no exception. It starts with Merrill Garbus talking about how she constructs her songs—which she calls “puzzle pieces”—before she performs a wonderfully percussion heavy version of “Gangsta” from w h o k i l l. It’s easy to see how Garbus has taken the songs from that record and really transformed them in this performance, with the energy of the track leaping off the screen and her talent for working with loops proving to be evermore impressive.
