As the Tune-Yards ready the release of their second album, they would like you to get familiar with the new sound heard across w h o k i l l. They chose to leak the track "Bizness" first because, from what I have read, it serves as the "perfect embodiment" of frontwoman Merrill Garbus's current muse. As you will hear for yourself, the track draws heavily from numerous sources, though I'm primarily hearing a huge Afrobeat influence in the vocals, brass and percussion. Elements of the track also remind me of a cross between the most spirited romps from Dirty Projectors and Sufjan Stevens, though I doubt we will ever hear the latter shout like that.
Download and stream the track below. W h o k i l l is due out April 18.
