Trey Songz: "Bottoms Up" f. Nicki Minaj

· by

Oh the complexities of modern R&B: At the same time you have The-Dream, who our Craig Jenkins called, perfectly, the "new sultan of sleaze," you have Trey Songz, another singer clearly indebted to the R. Kelly bump-and-grindbook. But where Dream gets new mileage out of being an unapologetic horndog, Trey Songz is humorless, straight-forward and unapologetically boring. The sad thing? This new Trey Songz single, "Bottoms Up," is going to get roughly 85% more airplay than anything off Love King, when at least five songs on that album are of the same type as "Bottoms Up." Is it because Trey Songz is a bit more attractive? Maybe. Is it becaue Nicki Minaj is on this? Probably (and she's just as bad as normal). Consider this a warning: This is about to blow up on R&B radio between now and when Songz' Passion, Pain & Pleasure comes out on Sept. 14. [Real Talk]

Gee, thanks. Haw haw. I agree, Trey Songz is pretty cookie cutter. Not listening to this here cause I'm bound to hear it blasting throughout my city all summer. ::groan::
