The whole rock-rap thing, for better or for worse, is never going to go away. And while many times it can result in some of music's most puke-worthy moments, there have been at least several cases where the end product actually works. In the case of the latest track from Travis Barker's Give The Drummer Some, though, "Carry It" falls somewhere in the middle of the two extremes. Guest guitarist Tom Morello surprisingly doesn't overwhelm the beat with his riffs. And Wu-Tang members RZA and Raekwon sound at home over Morello's subdued playing, which kind of makes sense when you consider how the Wu and Rage Against the Machine were pretty close at one point. But there is something just wholly generic about this, even if the above visuals are kind of sharp.
Give The Drummer Some is due out next year.
